We are sad to inform you that on September 13, 2009, Captain Asaf Ramon was killed in a tragic accident. He was a member of the Israel Defense Forces, serving in the air force as a fighter pilot.

As many of you know, the Ramon family was at camp from 2002 through 2005. Rona (Asaf’s mom), Tal, Yiftach (David), and Noaa are beloved members of our GFC community. Many of our current staff members counted Asaf as a friend and bunkmate. Asaf’s father, Colonel Ilan Ramon, was the first Israeli astronaut and was killed in 2003 as a member of the crew of the space shuttle Columbia.

Many of you would like to let the Ramon family know that you are thinking of them at this difficult time. We invite you to send your letters of condolence to Greene Family Camp, and we will take them to the family in Israel.
