Avodah- Greene Family Camp wants you

Spend Your Summer at GFC:
• Be part of a close cohort of supportive friends
• Develop professional leadership and management skills
• Have FUN!

GFC’s Avodah Program is our staff-training program for campers entering their senior year in high school. Whether or not you have been to GFC as a camper, this program gives you the unique opportunity to start on the road leading to a camp staff position after high school, as well as valuable skills to prepare you for college and the workforce.

Leadership
As part of a unit team, you will work with bunk counselors and assist in the leadership of campers. You will remain with the same bunk throughout each session, allowing you to develop relationships with the campers and to have a positive impact on their lives. Learn how to lead small and large groups, to manage complex, time-sensitive situations, and to make smart decisions quickly. You will spend time on GFC’s award-wining Ropes Course, learning how to belay and lead groups. You will become certified in CPR and First Aid. You will discover your own leadership style and learn how you lead best individually and within a group setting.

College Prep
Be part of GFC’s college counseling program. Work one-on-one with our college counselor-in-residence, work on your college essay from concept to writing skills with our essay tutor, create a list of colleges that are right for your goals, learn about Jewish life on college campuses, and start the application process early.

Shadow Program

Learn about different parts of camp through shadowing members of GFC’s leadership team. Learn how to ask questions in a professional environment and to analyze your experience.

Community Service
You will leave GFC with 230 hours of community service. You will receive a Presidential Volunteer Service Award based on your service at camp.

...and have fun with new and old friends!
Live with fellow participants in the Avodah program; relax on a three-day trip during Intersession; spend program time and down-time together; and become closer than you ever thought possible!

The 2014 Avodah program will run from June 12 through August 5.
