It’s great being at GFC during the fall. The weather is just a little cooler, and it is not quite as crowded, but it is certainly busy! Marielle, Chelsea, Stefani, Eric, and I have been around the region, meeting with lots of you at Religious School, and showing the new camp video. It’s getting RAVE reviews. A couple weeks ago we held our annual Camp Retreat Weekend with hundreds of people coming back to Bruceville. And early in December, the URJ gets together for it’s International Convention. There will be over 1500 people attending, and we’ll make sure to take some pictures to show you what you missed! Of course, you don’t have to miss it. If you are a high school student, college student, or adult and would like to join us in San Diego, check out the URJ's Biennial Website.
The music CD from this past summer will be out in time for Channukah, so watch your mailboxes. Camp Applications and brochures went out a few weeks ago, along with the Yearbook and the DVD Yearbook. Check out the GFC Registration Page for Summer 2008 dates and rates. Register soon to secure your space!
I look forward to seeing y’all soon, either in your city or mine; Brucveille, Texas.

We had an amazing weekend with 300 of our closest friends at the GFC Camp Retreat. Campers from all over Texas joined us for a weekend full of fun and learning - GFC style. We had a relaxing Shabbat experience, played sports, climbed the Alpine Tower, studied Torah, created masterpieces in arts & crats and played some really silly relay games. Let's just say Saturday evening ended with many counselors cleaning up shaving cream!
Our bathroom renovation is complete! We are getting ready to turn on the solar panels to heat the water! You'll never again have to worry about rushing to get first shower during Shabbat prep.
In other news around the camp community, one of our summer staff members, Max Einsohn, had the opportunity to play guitar in an Interfaith Service. What makes this so special you ask? Well, the service was attended by the Dalai Lama! Check out the picture of the group on the right.
How do you know if you are Old School GFC? How many people in that picture were your Counselor, Unit Head, Specialist, or Bunkmate? These GFC folks all work for the URJ full time either at one of the URJ Camps or in our New York office. The Youth Division comes together every year to hear from the other camps and youth programs that are run by the URJ. We share ideas and learn about each other's programs, all in an effort to make ours better for you!
Check out GFC songs on XM Radio during Hanukkah! XM Radio celebrates the festival of lights and Jewish culture on Radio Hanukkah - XM channel 108. Songs from the Greene Family Camp albums will be featured throughout Radio Hanukkah and on the show “S’mores and Songs: Songs of Jewish Summer Camp” to air at 5pm Eastern Time on Tuesday December 11th. Find out more, including a full schedule, from XM Radio. You can listen to the channel online with a free trial; be sure to use the promo code: Dreidel for a full 8-day trial period!
